Autumn 2

 

 this half term our topic will focus on the enquiry question ...

'Are Mini Grey's Books unique?'


We aim to answer this question with a cross-curricular approach to learning.

'Traction Man' has an important mission. He will help us to investigate different materials in Science and create books in the style of Mini Grey.

English


Are Mini Grey books unique?

Stories - Story mapping Mini Grey books and creating our own stories based on the character 'Traction Man'.

 

Maths

 

Place value, Addition, Subtraction, Time

Times tables to keep practising: 2's, 5's, 10's, 3's.


Please keep logging into Maths with parents. This reall helps children with their learning and gives them a heads up for the following week  in school. There are some lovely activities that they can do around the house. 

 

Science

Materials - We will be investigating different materials and carrying out exciting experiments. We are most looking forward to the EGG DROP!!!

 

R.E

Understanding Mini Grey and creating art work based on her books. 

 

RE

Investigating the morals and messages from different parables.

Stories from the Torah.

 

 

Computing

 Programming - Purple Mash - We will use this to develop programming skills and create our own Traction Man stories. 


P.E

Indoor - Team games and skills - Thursday PM
Outdoor - Fencing on a Friday AM

Please ensure your child has their PE kits in school at all times. 
Your child will be taking part in P.E inside (on a Monday) and outside (on a Wednesday) so they may wish to bring blue/black jogging bottoms and a jumper as well as their normal P.E kit. shorts and t-shirts.

Homework: Learning Logs

Please encourage your child to show you their maths lerning on MATHS WITH PARENTS


To support our topic learning, we will continue to send home ‘Learning Log Tasks’. Please encourage your child to complete the activities so that they can receive their reward. 

WE ARE DOING REALLY WELL WITH OUR HOMEWORK LEARNING. LET'S KEEP IT UP!

Please practise reading and spelling the high frequency words that are in your child's reading diaries.  

Reading

Book bags must be brought every day for their daily reading slot whether that be independently or with a teacher. The whole school reading rewards continue as normal with rewards being given for 75 reads. The number of reads will be counted at the end of each term.

Year 2 children bring home a library book and reading book. Your child will access my book blog in school as a class and will have their own account made in the coming terms.
