Summer Term
Topic: Is this a wonderful world?
Summer 1
Our theme this half term is ‘Is this a wonderful world?’. We get started with a lot of geography and will be learning about rivers from the UK.
Week 1 – Geography: rivers
I will know that that the features of a river and the surrounding landscape change from source to mouth using photographs.
I will know what factors cause a river to flood using our knowledge of the journey of a river.
I will know how Newark has been affected by flooding using OS maps to present my findings.
Week 2 – RE: Hindusim
To know some Hindu key beliefs that achieve Moksha.
To know Hindu’s believe in Ahisma and this forms part of their duty (dharma).
To know how satsang supports Muslims to fulfil their dharma.
Week 3 – Geography: rivers
I know how to locate the 5 longest rivers in the UK using an OS map.
I will be able to answer questions about a locality using an OS map. |
I will understand how to create a long profile of the River Thames using my knowledge of its physical features.
Week 4 – Science: adaptation
I will know that living things produce offspring of the same kind but that are not identical.
I will know that fossils show us how living things have changed over time.
I will know how animals adapt to suit different environments.
Week 5 – Geography: rivers
I will know how waterfalls are formed using my knowledge of rivers.
I will understand how humans use waterfalls using my knowledge of Niagara Falls. |
I will be able to answer an enquiry question using what I have learnt this half term. |
