Reading
We expect your child to read to an adult for at least 10 minutes each day and for all reads to be recorded into reading diaries.

Book Vending Machine

For children accessing Read Write Inc books: If your child reads 25 times at home, they will receive a token to buy a book from the vending machine. For children accessing Accelerated Reader Books: If your child passes 5 quizzes, they will receive a raffle ticket. Once children have received 3 raffle tickets, they will receive a token to purchase a book from the vending machine.

Accelerated Reader (Willow & Elm Year 2)
Your child will choose a book from the school library based on their ZPD range that has been based on their Star Reader score. Once your child has read their book, they are expected to quiz on Accelerated Reader. If they pass their quiz, they are able to change their book. Children’s ZPD range can be located in the front of their reading diary. Accelerated Reader Link

Read, Write Inc. (Maple Year 1)
Your child will choose a book from our range of Read, Write Inc. books, based on their current reading level. After every 3 full reads of the same story, children will change their book. Books are expected to be read more than once to build up accuracy, fluency and comprehension.

Maths

Maths Home Learning is due every Thursday to the class teacher for marking and children will receive their new piece of maths Home Learning every Friday.

CGP Maths Book

The maths task set will either be based on the children’s current learning or post/ prior learning. Children are to complete the Maths task set each week (the page number will be communicated on the back of the your child’s CGP Maths Book).

Sumdog
Download the SUMDOG App, in your App Store, for your device, for your child to access maths activities or alternatively, you can visit SUMDOG.com. Children can access a wide range of learning that matches their ability, based on their Sumdog Diagnostic check taken at the end of term, or your child’s class teacher may have set tasks to be completed, which can be accessed in the ‘Task’ tab on Sumdog. If your child’s class teacher sets tasks, this will be communicated on the back of children’s CGP Maths book.
