Formula 1 mechanic Stuart Green visits Bishop Alexander

Bishop Alexander was delighted to welcome Formula 1 mechanic Stuart Green to the academy last week.

Stuart is the leading mechanic at George Russell, and gave an in-depth talk to UKS2 about his job and what it involves.

Our pupils, as part of their English writing, were tasked with writing persuasive letters which explained why a chosen person inspires them. The pupils have also been studying petrol and electric cars as part of their dedicated STEM week prior to writing the letters.

Sixteen pupils wrote to Stuart Green. These letters were sent to him whilst he was in Miami, and he replied offering to come and visit us at Bishop Alexander. We were delighted to welcome him.

Stuart came into the school and showed us a video of his work in the pit lane. He also met with the 16 pupils who wrote to him, inviting them to ask questions about his career. In a thoughtful touch, he also gave them some branded and signed merchandise.

Stuart then gave an in-depth talk to UKS2 about his storied career and what his job involves. As part of the talk, Stuart showed off a wing from a Mercedes F1 car, Lewis Hamilton’s racing seat and overalls, a steering wheel, and also branded bottles to show how the paintwork is completed with a smooth finish.

Everyone at the school was highly interested and invested in what Stuart had to say, and we would like to thank him for taking his time to inspire our pupils!
