Our Year 5/6 Football club is run by “Coach”.
Anyone is welcome to join the club, no matter what their ability, whether they have played before (for local or professional clubs) or if this is new to them. Children learn lots of different football skills throughout the session and then often finish with a practise match.
This Club, is a great opportunity to earn a place within the school football team, run by Mr Thomas and Mr Ward. Boys and girls, from Year 5 and 6, are picked to represent football team and they attend pre-season friendlies, matches and tournaments, throughout the year. Last year the squad of 15, had many children chosen who attended the football club, so this is great incentive to take part if a child wants to represent Bishop.
Over the past few years there has been a steady development within the squad, again thanks to the football club. We came close to the title and have been improving our cup runs. 3 of our Bishop players have also played for professional teams in Manchester and Newark Warriors.
All children must wear shin pads when playing.
