I joined the School Council as I want good things to happen in school.
At the start of the year, we planned and made a video to share with the other 24 L.E.A.D. Academy Trust primary schools on how one resource, the Reading Hut, provided us with different activities to do during break and lunch times.
In the spring term, we were tasked with organising a pupil election for a Member of Pupil Parliament and a Deputy who will represent the school, making decisions and giving all our pupils a across L.E.A.D. Academy Trust. This included amongst other things leading an assembly, talking to candidates, providing ballot papers and counting them to ensure it was a fair election.
In the summer term, they organised a competition for children to have a favourite meal and this meal is now on the menu.
All of these activities took a lot of arranging and the School Council rose to the challenge.
Members of the school council worked with fellow pupils to determine what changes could be made to improve the school experience. The result was the ‘Reading Hut’, a calm space where pupils can enjoy reading, playing board games or have some quiet time before joining classes.
