A child-friendly guide to Safeguarding

Members of the Active Citizen Group, our pupil-led safeguarding forum, have been working hard to create a safeguarding poster which highlights what safeguarding means to them.

We hope that by publicising the finished poster, it allows all of our pupils at Bishop Alexander L.E.A.D. Academy to have a greater, age-appropriate understanding of what the term means.

What is safeguarding at Bishop Alexander Academy

In our school, safeguarding aims to:

  • Protect you from harm
  • Care about your wellbeing and safety
  • Make sure nothing stops you from being happy
  • Make sure you have a good education to give you your best chance in life.

When might you need help?

If you are…

  • Being hurt by an adult or another child, in person or online
  • Being touched in a way you don’t like
  • Not being looked after by people at home
  • Seeing people you love being hurt

What to do if you need help

DO NOT be scared to tell someone.

We will always listen.  If you are worried about any of these things, then you can tell:
  • Designated Safeguarding Leads
  • Teachers
  • Headteacher
  • Teaching assistants
  • Dinner ladies
  • Office staff
  • Any other trusted adults

DO NOT KEEP IT A SECRET.
